Myers Chuck to Wrangell

Myers Chuck was colorful as promised, though there’s not much to the settlement outside of a dock, post office, and an “art gallery”. We enjoyed a good walk out to the beach, visited with other boaters on the dock, had a spaghetti feed and then set alarms for an early wake up to depart to Wrangell the next morning.

Wrangell is charming, welcoming and interesting. With a population of just over 2000, Wrangell has a long history of Tlingit and Russian inhabitants. The view from the borough into the bay, with its many surrounding islands, is stunning and truly mesmerizing. Townsfolk appreciate the business of visitors and everyone is friendly – from the shopkeepers, to dockworkers, to the tradesmen. Petroglyph Beach was a nice hike and gave us the opportunity to get up close to art from past civilizations. We had a fun evening out with FreeSpirit and her guests last night. Today Brian and JD leave and tomorrow we continue north up Wrangell Narrows to the Norwegian town of Petersburg.

  1. Glad you found the problem before it created a more serious problem! Wishing you a speedy repair and smooth sailing. We enjoyed Wrangell, but only for one day.
