Prince Rupert

Arrival in a new port is always challenging. You can read charts and study harbor schematics beforehand, but until you’ve been there, entering can be stressful. A BC Ferry was leaving as we entered Prince Rupert, and a giant cruise ship was docked as we navigated our way through the harbor. After refueling, we found our spot at Cow Bay Marina, then watched for Free Spirit so we could help tie up her lines. We’re a faster vessel than Free Spirit, but she has higher freeboard, which means she can take higher seas. That will be helpful crossing Dixon Entrance.

Saturday remains windy, wet and cold. When not out exploring, we’re studying weather, wind and marine forecasts. Many boats in the marina are gearing up to cross to Alaska tomorrow. We may be among them.

  1. Not sure my post was saved. Just want you to know how much I’m loving your pictures and stories. Safe crossing tomorrow. Hope you awake to sunshine.
