Not in Charge

Early morning moon over Hornby Island anchorage

We reunited with Free Spirit in Nanaimo on Sunday evening. Georgia Strait wind predictions for Monday were too high for a comfortable crossing, so we headed for Hornby Island to continue making northerly progress. On the water here in BC, Mother Nature is the ultimate decision maker. We live by moon cycles (full and new moons bring extreme currents), wind and weather.

This morning we leave for Refuge Cove on West Redonda Island, in Desolation Sound. Wind predictions are light and we anticipate an easy crossing.

Speaking of wind ….we had it in Reno early Monday morning! We’re sad to lose the aspen and pine trees, but thanks to neighbors, workers and the good folks at security, the mess below has been cleared.

  1. I didn’t lose any trees but the wind literally blew the leaves off the trees. At the moment it’s snowing!
