Trust

Leaving the land of golden arches and superstores we find trust a refreshing by-product. People need each other and a spirit of helpfulness pervades. A fellow navigator loaned us some charts and said he’d ‘see us up there’ (somewhere in the north) and retrieve them. Vegetable stands have honesty boxes and artisans send us off with goods and promise to email a PayPal bill. In villages, meals out can be a gamble, sometimes a delightful surprise, other times followed by a bowl of cereal at the boat, but a cold brew never disappoints.

Getting into the spirit of living on the water.

After we left Montague on Galiano Island, we overnighted in Telegraph Harbor on Thetis Island. From there to Ladysmith, a logging town. Leaving today (Saturday) for Otter Bay on North Pender Island. Hovering in the Gulf Islands through next week, when we’ll get water maker replaced, and from there edge north.

  1. So happy to read about your travels. We love being in BC where the lifestyle is more laid back and real. And I’ve also found the Canadians to be very accommodating. Hope you have good weather and continue to have fun experiences. Love, Cuz

    1. Sandy and MK – any chance you can join us this summer? You’ve got a big river trip planned but let’s text off line about dates that might work for you. Love you! 💕💕💕

  2. So glad you are having such a great trip so far! Our farthest stop north this year was Telegraph and we stopped at Otter Bay, too (one of my faves). Love seeing your posts. Can’t wait to see what’s in store farther up north! Safe travels. K & R
