Articles and accolades have been written about exquisite, pristine Princess Louisa Inlet, the remote Provincial Park accessible only by boat or float plane. Cruising to that destination was a priority since first dreaming of taking Kama Hele to northwest waters. Dick and Linda joined us for this leg of the adventure; their decades of experience as mariners so helpful.
Before a vessel can reach Princess Louisa Inlet, it must run the gauntlet at Malibu Rapids. This short but turbulent passage requires a mathematical equation from a tide table almost 65 miles away to approximate safe transit time, so we calculated and recalculated before determining the right time. Certain we had the correct window, we left at dawn, meeting the sun in Agamemnon Channel.
Making safe passage, we found room on the rustic dock and enjoyed three days in the granite walled inlet, always with the music of Chatterbox Falls in the background. The falls are fed by melting snowpack and the warm afternoon crescendo is always more robust than the cold morning one.
Maximizing our allotted 72 hour stay, we timed the daybreak slack current back through Malibu Rapids, then headed south, stopping in Harmony Sound to see Friel Falls before reaching our destination.
Keeping company with several Orca pods in Agamemnon Channel, we slow cruised back to Pender Harbor where we bid Dick and Linda a fond farewell.
We head across the Strait of Georgia this morning, through Dodd Narrows to Ladysmith, slowly making our way back to the US.

Stunning photos! Chatterbox Falls is my favorite spot up there so far!
