Maybe it was leaving Desolation Sound, or maybe it’s simply the dog days of summer, but our anchorage on Cortes Island (Discovery Islands) brought warm breezes, pesky yellowjackets and a few days of aimless relaxation. We returned to Lund, an area originally inhabited by the Coast Salish, this visit taking time for exploration. We found Nancy’s famous cinnamon buns, native art extended to bathtub toys (always thinking like a grandparent now) and rafted next to California ex-pats living in Reno. Ron and Barbara – thanks for the great cruising tips, how to attempt the rapids and the idea of a fishing expedition for Bob and Luke. We look forward to seeing you in Nevada.
Leaving Lund we were treated to humpbacks playing in the bay, and then the smiling face of Luke who joined us Monday. Welcome aboard Luke!
