John + Kim= good luck

With a dramatic arrival via float plane, John and Kim joined us for four days of adventuring. It was a treat to share this exquisite territory with loved ones.

We had our first whale siting, right off the bow of the boat, learning about the whale’s technique of drawing feeder fish into a circle for a compact mouthful of food called bubble feeding.

We cruised up the deep fjord called Toba Inlet, awed by the steep mountains and almost turquoise waters of the glacial run off, watched a teacher/artist create gyotaku from a king salmon right on the dock of our marina, and made it to Penrose Bay in time for dinner and music at the Laughing Oyster. It was four days of flawless exploring and good fortune.

John and Kim’s visit was over too quickly, but the memories will remain with us!

Before leaving the Toba Inlet area, we were treated to a bear siting, an advantage of early rising.

Off now to Gorge Harbor to re-provision, then to Pendrell Sound.
