Had a quick stay in Powell River, where residents extended us every possible courtesy. From the the stranger who offered a ride to the distant market, to Safeway manager Steve who’s definition of customer service included driving us back to the boat, to fireman Jason who found Bob floundering in the IPA section of the liquor store and steered him to best brews, the folks were welcoming everywhere we turned.

The small town of Lund marks the end of the 101 highway, literally considered the end of the road. We refueled and had time for a quick stop at Nancy’s Bakery, home of the famous cinnamon buns.
From Lund, we rounded Sarah Point, marking the official beginning of Desolation Sound, excited to have made it to this remote wilderness.
