Leaving the San Juans was sloppy, with rain and rough waters creating indecision about departing, but we had reservations for a coveted slip in front of the Empress Hotel in Victoria and local consultations assured us passage would be uneventful. “Going through” Customs was an easy phone call from the Customs Dock.

Days are long and cool, but the flowers are vibrant and everywhere.

We had almost two days to explore the sights of Victoria waterfront ….

Leaving this morning for Cadboro Bay.
Glad you made it to Victoria! Such a beautiful city. We are at Sidney Spit tonight, heading back to Friday Harbor and then home. We will live vicariously through you two for the rest of the summer. Enjoy! Karen and Roger

Thanks, Karen. I’ll always remember the sight of Roger relaxing with a good book when we met at Roche. Now THAT’S a vacation!
