Sausalito: local color

Fingers crossed life in Sausalito will soon give way to continuing north, but for now we’re enjoying our floating condo. Daily boat chores keep Skipper Bob busy, and there’s opportunity to continue tweaking boat systems. Every day the fog threatens, sometimes just peeking over the hillside, other times rolling into our corner of Richardson Bay to turn everything drizzly and gray. Daily dog walks into town highlight the local color: flower stands abound and the city is a mecca for creative houseboat options. They seem to come in every shape and size, with the residents as colorful as their dwellings. A day trip to Angel Island brought us to a Civil War encampment, where school kids were learning regimental marching, firing commands and cooking the old way. Often skies are clear, but few boats out on the bay illustrate wind intensity, with 35mph gusts in our little marina. With full days evenings come quickly, still we wait for news it’s the right time to edge north.

  1. What a fun adventure! We appreciate how cautious you are being about heading up to the San Juans. We are keeping in close touch with Jeanne. Enjoy your adventure❤️❤️❤️

  2. Thanks MK! Trying to be patient. My sister Linda suggests we rename blog to “edging nowhere” or “staying still” 🧘‍♀️
Hope we can have you aboard in PNW sometime this summer.
